چکیده

In this paper, we study the routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem in multi-segment optical networks. In multi-segment optical networks, each segment has different resource availability or hardware Characteristics. The differences between multi-segment optical networks and homogeneous optical networks are discussed. We then present a resource abstraction technique called Blocking Island and define a multi-segment BIG (Blocking Island Graph) network model. Using a minimum splitting routing heuristic introduced in the context of the blocking island paradigm in conjunction with the multi-segment BIG model, we propose a general RWA algorithm that takes a combined view of the network resource to integrate routing, wavelength assignment and gateway selection in a single routing framework. In the simulation we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm by comparing it with other state-of -theart heuristics in this area.

A heuristic method for consumable resource allocation in multi-class dynamic PERT networks

This investigation presents a heuristic method for consumable resource allocation problem in multi-class dynamic Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) networks, where new projects from different classes (types) arrive to system according to independent Poisson processes with different arrival rates. Each activity of any project is operated at a devoted service station located in a n...

Asymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks

This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...

Constrained consumable resource allocation in alternative stochastic networks via multi-objective decision making

Many real projects complete through the realization of one and only one path of various possible network paths. Here, these networks are called alternative stochastic networks (ASNs). It is supposed that the nodes of considered network are probabilistic with exclusive-or receiver and exclusive-or emitter. First, an analytical approach is proposed to simplify the structure of t...

A Multi Objective Fibonacci Search Based Algorithm for Resource Allocation in PERT Networks

The problem we investigate deals with the optimal assignment of resources to the activities of a stochastic project network. We seek to minimize the expected cost of the project include sum of resource utilization costs and lateness costs. We assume that the work content required by the activities follows an exponential distribution. The decision variables of the model are the allocated resourc...

Transport Plane Resource Discovery Mechanisms for ASON/GMPLS Meshed Transport Networks

The reduction of both deployment costs and operating expenses has emerged as a critical goal of next-generation optical networks. In this context, as each node maintains a large number of input/output ports (i.e. wavelengths, fibers, time slots ...), automation is needed to reduce long and tedious manual node configurations, thus easing network management and minimizing resource misconfiguratio...
